Coldclaw Blades – Terms & Policies
1. Custom Work
If you’re ordering a commission or custom work from me, please read this carefully. You can contact me for custom orders at coldclawblades1@gmail.com.
How to Place a Custom Order:
- Send complete details of your sword design, including:
- Blade type
- Handle type
- Pommel design
- Guard design
- Material for each part
- Scabbard design
- Any other necessary details
- You can discuss your design with me. If you’re not familiar with swords, I’ll guide you through the process and suggest the best options.
Materials:
- I mainly use SUP9 steel (similar to 5160) for functional swords. Other steels are available and will be suggested according to your design and requirements.
- Other materials (brass, bronze, copper, leather, etc.) can be selected according to your preferences.
Budget:
- Please include your budget when sending order details. This helps me suggest materials and processes that fit your budget. Custom swords can range from $1,000 to $50k or more, depending on design and materials (silver, gold etc).
Payment & Refund Policy:
- Standard payment: 50% in advance, remainder due upon completion.
- Updates: I will provide regular updates on progress. Some updates may not be constant due to workload, but any critical updates requiring your input will be communicated.
- Refunds: 25% of the advance is refundable if the order is cancelled before completion. After completion, the full 50% advance is non-refundable, and the sword will be shipped.
Replacement & Warranty:
- If the sword has any issues, I provide replacement for individual parts if needed.
- The blade comes with a 2-month replacement policy. If it does not meet agreed durability, I will replace it.
Timeframe:
- Custom work usually takes 1–4 months, depending on complexity. I will provide an estimate for your order.
Shipping & Damages:
- If the sword is damaged during shipping, a replacement will be sent as soon as possible.
- Any claims from the courier company: 50% of received compensation will be returned to me; you will receive a replacement sword.
Custom Duty:
- For commission swords, I cover all customs duties. After receiving your sword, inform me of the charges, and I will refund the amount.

3. About My Work
- I am a blacksmith with extensive experience learned from my uncle, who practiced for over 35 years.
- I have experience in all aspects of blacksmithing: steel forging, leather work, brass/bronze/copper casting, and assembling complete blades.
- Most of my work is handmade, with blades forged to thickness and hand-ground to shape. Brass, bronze, and copper parts are cast.
- Think of me as a “magic pen”: if you can draw it, I can create it. Every piece is made to the best quality possible for the price paid.
4. Shipping & Delivery
- All orders are shipped with tracking.
- Delivery times vary depending on destination and customs.
- Buyers are responsible for knowing import rules and ensuring their country allows the shipment of blades.
- I package all blades securely to prevent damage during transit.
- For commission orders, I cover customs above certain limits (see Custom Duty section).
5. Legal & Responsibility Disclaimer
- All blades are sold for lawful purposes only: collection, culinary use, outdoor activities, or training (where legal).
- Buyers are responsible for knowing and complying with their local knife/sword laws before purchasing.
- Coldclaw Blades is not responsible for misuse, injury, or legal issues arising after purchase.
- By purchasing, the buyer agrees to these terms and acknowledges the handcrafted nature of all blades.
