This custom set features a traditional Chinese Jian inspired sword paired with a matching dagger, designed with elegance, balance, and functionality in mind.
The sword features a 70–80 cm blade forged from ladder pattern Damascus steel, created from 1095 and 15N20 high carbon steels. The ladder pattern produces a flowing layered texture along the blade, giving it a refined and noble appearance while maintaining excellent structural integrity.
The blade is crafted with a full tang construction and a central fuller, helping reduce weight and improving balance. This design ensures the sword remains light and well balanced, making it suitable for Tai Chi practice and controlled forms, while still being a fully functional blade.
The handle measures 25–30 cm and is crafted from dark hardwood, providing a comfortable grip and classic aesthetic. The guard and pommel are made from brass, complementing the dark handle and Damascus blade. The guard features hand engraved wave patterns, while the pommel includes a custom engraved wolf with oak leaves, designed so it can also function as an embossing stamp.
Accompanying the sword is a matching dagger, designed to mirror the sword’s overall style and materials. The dagger features a 20 cm Damascus blade with the same ladder pattern and a 15 cm dark wood handle with brass fittings, ensuring visual consistency between both pieces.
Both the sword and dagger come with simple lacquered wooden scabbards, maintaining the traditional and elegant aesthetic of the set.
This commission focuses on creating a refined and noble weapon set, reflecting the historical elegance of the Jian while remaining practical, balanced, and functional.
